Daphne Middle School
The worst experience ever. It seems like principal and most of the teachers (not all) are there with one purpose...to discourage kids and not other way around.
Can't wait to get done with this school. My child actually enjoyed school and learning before started this terrible school.
Is it any way to get a transfer????... Anyone?

I love DMS!  It is my first year as a teacher at the middle school level, I worked for 11 years at the elementary level, and it has been a great experience.  I feel that the educators and administrators make this a wonderful working environment for me and a great learning environment for the students.

: I am wondering if any other parents are having as many problems with this school's administration as I am. My son, who enjoyed school for the most part prior to attending Daphne Middle School was ready to quit when these folks were finished with him. My daughter, who is struggling through the 2011 acedemic year, is completely frustrated by what she perceives to be a lack of control of classrooms and/or cirriculum. My perception is of a dysfunctional environment from the principal down. When my daughter first started having issues with her grades, I attempted to contact the counselor to see what could be done to address the situation. I received no reply. I then went to the school to speak with her directly. I was informed that the woman who was coming down a hallway and turned around to go the other way when her name was mentioned was the counselor. I did receive a call from the principal (after I filled out a complaint form) who gave what amounted to lip service regarding the issues with my daughter and the counselor. I was told during that call that a number of different strategies would be employed in an attempt to correct the evident deficiencies. My daughter has told me that none of these strategies were ever utilized. My faith in this school and its principal< Mr Olyphant, in near zero. I truly fear for my youngest daughter, who is a National Elementary Honor Student to attend this school. My children are all above average in intelligence but they have been sorely tested by this environment.
