Hazel Green High School Reviews
Not a good school
This school is losing about 40 to 50 students a year because of its leadership and academics. If you value your child's education, do not choose this school system. This school, like any, has some good teachers. Overall, most students are poorly prepared for future learning endeavors. The administration are not helpful and will not work with parents to solve serious problems. There are no schedule changes and decisions are not made for the good of the student.
I go to Hazel Green right now. The school is amazing. The counselors care about their students very much. I don't know what that other review is talking about. I just decided to post this because everything that they said is a lie. The principal and teachers are open to different ideas and even act on some of them. If you want a really good school then come to HGHS. Go Trojans!
Not as good for academics as most other states. But about the same as the rest of the County. Teachers are Ok but nothing special. School won't listen to parents. Counselors were not interested in students' or parents' goals and needs. They only cared about districts goals for state standards and classroom loading. Couldn't get a class that would help in callodge because they "already meets the state standard for that so doesn't need it" and got farmed off into yet another PE instead. My kid already has more than enough PE to meet all state requirements. Hazelgreen would not change a schedule because the school has a no tolerance schedule change policy. School didn't give us a reason for saying no. They just said "our policy is to not make changes to the student schedules". Wow.
