Jane Stone: HTHS has improved through the years.    Parents who are interested in a vocationally-focused education will find that HTHS meets their needs well.  HTHS' weakness is in college planning and finding scholarships for the brightest and most talented.   The lions' share of HTHS students who take AP classes do not take the AP exam, which makes it impossible to gauge the strength or weakness of the AP program.

If you are a parent of a college-bound student, seeking a community atmosphere and strong academics,  Mountain Brook or Vestavia would be stronger options.
