Melvin E Sine School Reviews
I believe that Melvin E. Sine school does not appreciate our young children, nor care about their safety or health. I say this because they have been without a school nurse for quite some time. Yes, no nurse! I find it hard to believe that they do not have a nurse because they cannot find a qualified individual to fill the position (one of the reasons we were given by the district) With all the nurses that are out there looking for jobs right now, I find that answer insufficient. Also, was told that due to budget cuts, that is why there is no nurse. However, every other school in the district..yes, has a school nurse. And with the threat of H1N1 going around...don't you think that there should be a nurse?? My children are being sent home with a stuffy nose simply because the teachers do not know how to
handle a "sick" child. My kids are being sent home weekly now and let's just say as a parent, this is not acceptable.
The staff does not care about the safety of our children. My son was a victim of violence at the school. He required staples in his head after a child threw rocks at him on campus with staff standing nearby. Nobody did anything, the child was not reprimanded nor did I even receive a phone call!! And this is where we are sending our children to be safe and learn?? And let's just say it...you should have your child speak spanish just so they can fit in! This is an absolute disgrace of a school. If they can't find a way to take better care of it, they should just shut it down. It's literally disgusting the lack of care our kids receive here. Staff knows nothing, nor do they show an ounce of sympathy or effort into providing a safe environment for our children.
