Cesar Chavez High School Reviews

The school is out to be something it is not. Their honors and AP programs that they boast about aren't even that great. We have teachers that aren't skilled to teach these higher materials teaching "gifted" classes. There really isn't a difference in regular classes and honors/AP. The students aren't prepared academically to go to university or higher education and 90 percent of them can't do the basic math or write basic essays. The "tutor" program that the principal thinks is so great is just another form of detention and is used not to help the student but to punish them. If I was a parent who was thinking entering their child into Cesar Chavez High School I would say DON'T DO IT! Your setting your child up for failure. All the care about is the AIMS testing and things like AP tests and SAT preparing are not in the curriculum. They think community colleges are the future for these kids. Preparing students for success in college, career and life my ass!

"This school has absolutely changed my son's life! He is a brilliant kid who has a learning disability, and the staff absolutely understands his situation and teaches the way he learns! They are so insightful, understanding and capable, I feel lucky that we are part of that community."

"They have a newly built building which is absolutely gorgeous and very well laid out. In general the staff is caring, but firm. Only bad thing is that parent involvement is not encouraged. Yet!!"
