John: This school is horrible. Connections Academy lacks organization, the staff is underpaid and overworked with huge classrooms just like public schools but worse. The teachers are disconnected with the students and parents. Contacting staff at their offices is nearly impossible and the office support staff we have had experiences with were rude and uncaring. There are other homeschooling options out there. I highly suggest you research and go with one of those.. i.e. K-12 or see if something local exists in your area.

Arizona Connections Academy
Joseph Macaluso: This is a great school that allows parents to be very active in their childs education. This is now our third year in this school. The school sends you all the books and materials needed, and a computer if you do not have one available. There are live lessons (which is a live classroom). I feel the material is sometimes a little more difficult that a traditional classroom, but it challenges the children more. Teachers respond to questions very quickly. There are plenty of events to get together with other students and parents from the community, like field trips. Overall a great school and program. If you are unhappy with the class size and low test scores of your current school district, check out Connections Academy.

Arizona Connections Academy
Joe: We started with Connections Academy for the 2009-2010 school year. My daughter had been in a regular public school from Kindergarten through 5th Grade. After we moved within a new school district I was not happy with the test scores and larger class sizes. I researched different schools and found Connections Academy. The first year was a tough start, mostly because I was a little unprepared. But half way through we got a good system going. This year has been great, currently my daughter is in the 7th Grade. The curriculum is outstanding, the communication with teachers is awesome. They have a great online Learning Management System that is easy to use.

What is it?
The TerraNova is a series of nationally norm-referenced tests that assess general academic knowledge in core subjects, as well as providing national comparisons.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Students in grades 2 through 9 are assessed in reading, language arts and math.
How is it Scored?
Students receive a percentile rank, which indicates how well they performed in comparison to their peers in other states. The goal is for all students to score at or above the national average, or 50th percentile, on the test.

Arizona's Instrument to Measure Standards (AIMS) are annual tests used to measure a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards.
