Alhambra High School Reviews
I went to this school under the medical magnet program and jumpstarted my 17 years in medicine. I wouldn't change a thing about it. I was a three sport varsity athlete. Had some great teachers and coaches. And I did go to higher enducation after graduation and it also prepared me scholastically for my nine year military career. I would be proud to send my child there when she is ready.
Alumni class of 1995. The current state of the school is an example of education failing the students in the state of arizona. the moral is terrible and the traditions and former pride are all but gone. no community involvment and the teachers are overworked and under supplied. its a sinking ship and needs help.
I went to this high school for my whole four years. I don't recommend this high school to anyone. Alhambra does not prepare you for a University education. I got accepted into U of A and it was a very tough time for me, I needed some major tutoring. So if you want your child to be fully prepared for the University or Community College life I don't recommend sending them to any school in the Phoenix Union High School District.
I don't recommend this High school for any incoming students, I attended Alhambra high school for my whole four years, With many complications along the way. Many of their school counselor's quit, Many of the students violent and rude, And the staff is so illegitimate that the head counselor doesn't know anything about schedule errors and sends you to registration, where someone who has a lower education fixes the whole problem with a calm, cool, and collective attitude unlike the moron that calls herself a head counselor. Many of the teachers use foul language towards students, and often belittle trouble makers by asking crude questions about their intelligence. If your student is a slow learner, like myself, this hurts the self esteem because you do not grasp concepts as quick as excelling students. There are constant squabbles between students, and I believe my sophmore year, There was a violent confrontation between a security guard and several freshman students. There have been a few accounts of student teacher confrontations too. When I was on school grounds, I did not feel like I am in a safe environment. There is many students who carry weapons on to campus. Not to mention that the drug use is extremely high. There are rumors floating around that some of the security guards sell marijuana to the students. Not only that, But the school has poor sanitation, and nearly all bathrooms are locked up, for no one to use. I had caught myself on my period several times with no bathroom to take care of it. There is an array of clubs and activities that keep students out of trouble, but no mater how many their are, there isn't enough to counter the distasteful actions of everything else that goes on in the school.
