Anza Trail School Reviews
I had both of my children enrolled in Anza Trail for 2 years before pulling them out. My son who was in 1st and 2nd grade there was bullied on the bus and at the school itself. My daughter who was in 3rd and 4th grade was bullied by one of her teachers. The principal refused to meet with us for weeks, and when my wife finaly managed to meet with her, she was told that it was the kids fault, that the teacher was just wonderful and could do no wrong. My wife was also told that if my son had any problems he should have reported them to a teacher or an aid.
AIMS testing is life or death to the school and they made sure that the kids knew that. We pulled them out at the end of that year and moved them to a much better school. This was all about 3 years ago. Not sure if it has gotten better or not, but I wouldn't want to take that chance. Havn't heard anything good about that school yet..
Anza isn't to bad! In fact, compared to many of the schools in Tucson, it's pretty good. There's currently a bullying problem but we have a great principal who takes it seriously and does not hesitate to take action. There are great students but the acedemics are not so good. They are only challenging in middle school but only if you are in advanced classes which not all students who qualify to be in can because there is limited space. I would say regular math and science clases are a little behind, and the elementary is awful. They are VERY behind and there are few good elementary teachers. It's an okay school but it's nothing to great, or bad.
When looking for a new home, I looked at the schools first. I was really happy to find what i thought to be one of the best school district. How wrong can things be! Anza school is one of the worst schools i have seen and had to deal with ever. the principal holds herself in the highest regaurds, She takes no ownership in the mess the school is in. Administration has little regaurds for Parents, Students, or safety . out of 4 children I feel lucky to have one teacher that has allowed my child to go. The other 3 are lost in the issues of what makes students want to become high achieving and students that have no sence of what to do. K teachers are the most important teachers the students will ever have, They schould be encouraged, not told they have a bad attitude. If everyone stops talking highly achieving words, and start becoming the highly achieving school. Teachers and Parents can be one. Teachers have to let us in, you are not better only apart of what of what there lifes become.
