Lincoln Junior High School
5Kim Wise: Love this school! My twins are 7th graders and are doing great! Overall, the teachers are through and dedicated and the office staff is very nice. I am impressed with the Principal, Mr Guthrie, as well.
I feel that my children are getting a quality education at this school!
Lincoln Leopards are the best!!

Lincoln Junior High School
1I have two children that went to this school for the 7th grade two years ago. My son has aspergers autism, and my daughter, who does not have any disorders.
The curriculum is just the typical. Literature, math, history, etc. etc.
I cannot count how many times decisions were made without mine, or my husband's, consent. There was almost no parental involvement at all. Myself and my husband were almost never contacted about incidents that had occurred, and neither were they discussed at the time or even later on. Other parents that I know of complained about this as well (although experiences seem to have varied greatly).
The school, in my opinion, was incredibly unkept. Food and drink spills could be found in quite a few places, along with trash in general. Used gum was always stuck everywhere, even on door handles. Various utilities and facilities were often broken... doors, mirrors, toilets, tables, lights... the list goes on. Heck, a few weeks before school was out, the air conditioner for the school broke down, and wasn't fixed until two weeks later. The exterior of the school often had general vandalism all over it (very, very much contrary to the photos you see online). If I had not known where I was, I could have easily mistaken this school for being in one of the worst ghettos in the US (albeit not the case). The worst were the restrooms. They were absolutely abhorrent. I had been in them various times during the year, and it seemed as if though none were ever maintained. Stalls and walls had graffiti on them, mirrors and sinks vandalized, toilet paper strewn about, fecal matter and urine on and around the toilets, clogged toilets, horrible oders... the list goes on. I doubt it was just bad timing on my part taking comments from other students, parents, and my children into account.
There are few extracurricular options available.
Physical injuries I imagine are likely to occur from school property because of how unkept the place was. It also wasn't unusual for rather large groups of students to get sick every few weeks.
Sports is a major plus, as there are multiple (well kept) facilities around the school (and one inside the school (a basketball court) which was in good shape).
What gets me however, is the complete incapability of this school as a whole to handle children with special needs. My son was, literally, being sent home on a near daily basis, because the school simply did not want to deal with him. Not to mention, more than once was he the scapegoat for various problems caused, even though (even based on other's accounts) it was a different student, or it blatantly wasn't him. They did not care about his, or my daughter's, well being. The school let the bullying problem become completely out of control in regards to her. She was being relentlessly harassed. Multiple times she had been beaten up on the playground, and every time, staff on duty would refuse to acknowledge anything had happened. They often disallowed her to call me or go home. Both of their grades and self-esteem began suffering greatly. Over the course of the year my son developed several serious mental conditions. He is still seeing a therapist. My daughter also saw a therapist for while due to her becoming more and more depressed and suicidal. I am certain that their general education suffered because of the experience.
Both are currently being homeschooled, and are excelling greatly.
Having seen that the staff has undergone some major changes, I cannot say whether this school is still in such a detrimental state or not. You will have to do some research on your part.
