Bates Elementary School

Melissa Tanner: I thank they need to help get the child interested in learning more some of the teachers there just care about the paycheck. Child will be in 3rd grade now been there since prek.  They don't care about what the child abilities/disabilities are. As long as everyone knows whats going on every one is fine.  Thats every pcssd school out there now.If a child is ahead of the class they just take credit for it and don't try to further educate the child they say well we can only do what we are assigned to do in the class if you want more then private school would be what you are looking for, Then the child gets board and doesn't try as hard and all the teacher can say then is well they arnt showing me what you are saying so we cant advance them. Its BS really. If we had the money for a better school we would have our child there. But i like the fact they go to different classes  every day like music,pe ,computer labs , art.  but they should do their jobs instead of just getting by to get a check. I understand there are 7 hrs or so in a school day they have 26 kids to keep their attention, but when they notice one that gets it and doesn't have to study the spelling words knows them as soon as they get them they should try to give that student something harder to do. More challenging. Instead of praising a kid for something they already know why not challenge them praise them for learning something new.
