We left another Los Angeles independent school and was fortunate to find Echo Horizon School. Being able to compare experiences allowed us to appreciate this child centered school's approach so much more. A great combination of a nurturing atmosphere appropriate of elementary aged students with challenging academics. They try to individualize the student's educational program as much as possible and they pay close attention to educational research-- always looking to refine their approach and methods. They do not cater strictly to the test but the kids go on to first tier independent secondary schools in the Los Angeles area. After 27 years the schools under Paula Dashiell's leadership the school is in the capable, energized hands of Martha Schuur, a lifetime educator recruited from the Marlborough School.
