My son has attended this school for 3 years. Each year, I have seen him score higher on his academic testing. They have caring teachers who communicate with the parents on a regular basis. When my son gets out of class, I can go right in and discuss anything that I may be concerned with. I don't have to wait for parent/teacher conferences. I can check my sons grades any time on gradelink and see exactly what assignments he has turned in and what grade he got on it. They have before and after school daycare, so I know my son is in a safe environment while I am at work. They actively seek parent support at the school with many volunteer opportunities. It is a small campus, so all the staff know pretty much everyone who enters the campus. The school also still had PE and recess.
Because of the small student/teacher ratio, they can spot problems quickly. They can also work more one-on-one with students with learning disabilities. I have seen students in my son's previous class go from angry and aggressive to friendly and helpful once their learning disabilities were diagnosed and properly handled; once the problem was understood and lessons adjusted to help the student learn with less frustration. My son was placed at a higher academic level in reading because he tested so high in his own grade. I also know that they do this with math.
This year, they had a basketball team for both boys and girls grades 4 - 8 and a girls volleyball team all of which competed against other schools.
