Margaret Landell Elementary School Reviews
Best Elementary School in the District
This school has excellent teachers and a new caring Principal who keeps parents well-informed. The teachers expect a lot and there is a lot of homework, but my daughter has excelled at this school with its advanced curriculum. My 3rd grade daughter, required to read for 30 minutes a day, now reads at the 6th grade level. She aces most math tests and the teachers drill her twice a week on addition facts, allowing only 90 seconds to do 30 addition problems. My 2nd daughter, who just finished Kindergarten, was already expected to do research on Ocean Animals and then make an oral presentation. She needs extra assistance on math, but the caring teachers are willing to go out of their way to help. The school is on top of the latest learning systems such as Common Core, Reading Counts/Lexile Scoring, and Thinking Maps. The Principal offers educational classes to parents to help them understand the new tools and assist their children in maximizing the tools' effectiveness. The student pickup/dropoff has improved and security at the campus has improved with the installation of fences and better control of entrances. The school is the best elementary school in the district and near Oxford Academy, one of the most difficult high schools to get into in the country. Landell puts special emphasis on writing skills and that will help students who want to get into Oxford Academy, which looks for excellent writers. Although the receptionist may be rude to you if you don't pick up your kids on time, she is well-organized and is on top of things.
I went to this school and it was great. The teachers are very nice. The school is well groomed and kid-safe. My friends and I go to Lexington and we sometimes just hang out there to remember the memories I had at Landell. Now the kids from Cawthon have come it has become more crowded. There are more rude kids because of the change. That, I don't like...
This school has gone downhill this year. It is way too big and the kids do not get enough personal attention. And, as with any school, there are those teachers who are stronger and those who are just there, period. It has become like a factory, not the caring place it once was.
Landell is the best school in the Cypress school District.
It has the best parents, teachers, and kids.
