Moreland Elementary School District

The Moreland School District operates five K-5 grade elementary schools and one grade 6-8 middle school in San Jose, California, United States. The district's FTE teachers serve around 3,750 students. It was established in 1853, the oldest known rural school district in California.

Citing declining enrollment, Samuel Rogers Middle School and Latimer Elementary School have been closed, despite opposition from parents and students from both schools. All middle school students have been channeled to Castro Middle School, now renamed Moreland Middle School. A large portion of the students from Latimer were redirected to Gussie Baker Elementary School and George Payne Elementary School.
