We just started at Murray this year and it's been a really good school. My child really loves going to school and can not stop talking about it. There are lots of activities and events, which is also great. This is the first year but we love my kid's teacher too!

Jeannine: My two kids have been at Murray since 2007, and I agree that the cosmetic look of the school could be improved, and it is being worked on. The teachers and staff are all very caring and focussed on teaching kids what they need to know to be successful. That success is measured on test scores, as well as the kids continuing to love school and learning. My kids love that they know nearly everyone at the school, and it feels like an extended family. There are many ways to be involved with the school, from Parent Faculty Club, to School Site Council, to volunteering in the classroom and school wide events.

It's true, Murray is a small school, with a big community of parents and teachers helping the school achieve their goal: help their kids prepare with the best education.
I have been involved in the school for the last 10 years. My 2 oldest daughters went there, this year my youngest is in her last year. Even I moved to San Ramon, we decided to stay at Murray because it feels like home, like your family who takes care and educates you.
Parents are always welcome to help in the classrooms or in PFC meetings.  Murray has the feel of an old style school where everybody knows you and your kid. And the teachers want your kid to succeed. You feel that you belong to a group (teachers, administrative staff, and other parents) who are open and friendly educators.
Long live Murray! Keep small and looking for the best education and well being for our kids.

Gabriell: My older child attended Murray in 1996 and my youngest has been attending since 2007.  Although the school looks the same there have been some changes.  My son is very happy at the school and has some wonderful teachers.  The class sizes are still small (we will see what happens in the next few years with California cuts).  The lunch room serves as the talent show stage, the basket ball court and the place we all get together for events.  There is no real library at this school just a classroom turned into a library.  All in all it is a small town, neighborhood school with a lot of great history.

Although the stats say that the school is mostly white it really feels like a good mix of different kids from different cultures.   The parents are all friendly and involved, the principle and secretery are sweet, kind, and know all the kids.

The playground is nice and big, with a huge field.  The school is older and it could use a facelift but it is well taken care of.  This year new windows, roof and doors were put in.

If you are choosing a school for your child Murray is a great choice.  It isn't beautiful but it is a great place for a child to learn. Buildings don't make a school great it is the teachers, the kids, and the parents.  Murray has great kids, involved parents  and teachers who have been around a long time, who love to teach and many who live in the community.

Small town, small school, big impact.
