Madera Elementary School Reviews
To the previous parent that wrote a review on 11/09, at least your child gets to go on a field trip. 5 at that! If I had any complaint about Madera it would be that the parents are over-involved and over-protective.
Madera Elementary School does not provide school buses for field trips, and instead requires parents to drive students to field trips (according to members of the PTA and some teachers: "this is the way it's always been done" and "only Title 1 schools get buses from the district"). If a parent can't drive their child to the field trip, he/she may opt their child out of the field trip if they aren't comfortable with another parent at the school driving their child. But if a parent chooses to go along with the program, he/she must sign away any/all liability against the school (i.e., allow your child to travel with another parent at your own risk). We came from a school that did provide buses to their students, and are not happy with Madera's field trip policy (particularly since we're going to have take time off of work so our child can participate in the 5 field trips planned for her 2nd grade class).
