This school has its problems like any other. There are some excellent staff here. And also some awful staff. This is the better of the schools that are available for my son. I have had to explain dozens of times to the same staff the same things. I think there is a lot of racism in admin and Mrs. Walker is awful. Mr. Pippen has been the best teacher I can ask for to teach my son. I think the work is to easy though and my child is bored.

Their anti-bulling program was put into effect a little too late for my child. I found the teacher and principal to be dismissive and even questioned the validity of my claims, in a very disrespectful manner that I would not have expected from a principal. I have heard many similar concerns from other parents so I truly hope that the current program is effective for the children's sake. I can not speak on their current program but due to their unconcern for my child the effects from the experience in this school still haunt the interactions at the new school.

Evan Pippen: Hard working, dedicated staff that truly put the needs of students first. A supportive principal that is committed to helping all members of the school community. Wonderful parents that volunteer their time, donate materials, and support teachers and students. Most importantly, beautiful and amazing students. I couldn't imaging working at any other school. I am proud to both live and work in Emeryville.

Amy MacClain: Principal Ms. Lathan works tirelessly to bring resources to the children at Anna Yates. As the lead facilitator for their anti-bullying program, I see kids with so much heart, and a staff fully committed to bringing them a balanced education that keeps that heart and spirit intact while overcoming the obstacles (including racism) that come from our culture and the surrounding community.

Ms.Cupcake.
I have a child that attends Anna Yates and I think the school is wonderful. The Staff and Principal are a pleasure to be around and my son have excelled in all areas. I recommend the school to other parents that want a family type environment.

Ms. Moore: Staff and Principal need to be more prepared to deal with the more challenged students. Unfair discipline procedures, and resolution processes for different races. They are only concerned regarding the numbers and not the well being of the children that attend the school. I would never place any of my children in this school.
