My 3rd grader has lots of homeworks 10-12 pages/day. Mostly are math plus all the daily reading, never had science. Past spring vacation had homework packet (math) almost 20 sheets, mostly both sides. The kid always goes to bed late at night and sometimes goes to school late because of doing homework. And the worst thing is the kid doesn't understand what he/she learned at school, barely understand homework. I feel so sorry to my kid and I have to quit my job to stay home and help her with all homeworks. My kid is a quick learner for everything but I don't know what a problem!

Miguel: I attended this great school over 30 years ago from kindergarten through 6th grade. I'm certainly not surprised to hear that it still remains that way.. Great childhood memories from back in the day! Keep up the good work John Marshall!

I attended John Marshall 50 years ago. It was a great school then; and I'm pleased to see that a current parent agrees. Lots of my classmates from there still keep in touch (facilitated by Facebook). All of my teachers there were superb, but especially notable was kindergarten teacher Alice Ross Livsey, who passed away about 20 years ago. She inspired kids to do their best and to strive for goals they might never have dreamed of.
Friends from there and I often marvel at how lucky we were to have had such a fine start. (I now have a Ph.D. from a British university, was a college professor for 10 years, and am currently a diplomat with U.S. Department of State.)

Great School from a mom of a 1st grader and 5th grader that have both been going there since Kinder...Great Teachers, Communications and great staff. All care about the students and their success. California Distinguished school and proves it. My kids both are doing excellent and advanced in all areas and due to partly to my kids hard work, but mostly to the teachers who set high expectations and high standards because they know the kids can reach those goals. Thanks to John Marshall, my older daughter is prepared for the more difficult years ahead and have helped instill good study habits.
