John F. Kennedy High School Reviews

I have only one issue with Kennedy High School; however, I'm certain that most high schools have a similar approach.
I’ve always had a time management issue; this resulted in many days of coming to school about 5 minutes late. The schools solution to this is to place the student in detention for an hour. During this time, you sit, quietly, with no instruction, missing out on your scheduled class, in a room with about 25 other students.
If the school is interested in helping the student, it would make more sense to find out why each student is there and offer guidance to assist with that problem, whether it’s punctuality, drug abuse or fighting and whether it’s one-on-one or group counseling.
This is a difficult age and I feel, no, I know that a few words of wisdom, in a positive, caring tone, could make a huge difference.

I am a past graduate student from kennedy high school. I now attend harvard law and im was not a nerd in high school i hung around the bad crowd and still made it cause my teachers cared. Despite the rumors, kennedy is a good school, i was there for all 4 years. Alot of people say that its ghetto and looks like a jail but its nothing like that its a nice school, the staff is very good at what they and they will push your student to stive in school to become something in life.

"This school has absolutely changed my son's life! He is a brilliant kid who has a learning disability, and the staff absolutely understands his situation and teaches the way he learns! They are so insightful, understanding and capable, I feel lucky that we are part of that community."

"They have a newly built building which is absolutely gorgeous and very well laid out. In general the staff is caring, but firm. Only bad thing is that parent involvement is not encouraged. Yet!!"
