la Jolla Country Day School

The good:  Beautiful/state-of-the-art,  very safe campus.  Challenging academics.  Well-organized.  Mostly happy kids, teachers and admin.  Not religious (although the Jewish presence is very prominent).  Good, no-cut sports programs.  For girls, the volleyball and basketball squads are better than most college teams.  The bad:  Expensive.  A few brats and "plastic" parents (but not as many as you would think).  Conclusion:  If you can afford it, this is the "gold standard" of college prep schools in San Diego.
