I Am A Kaiser Breast Cancer Radiation Patient

By on

Yesterday after my radiation treatment, one of the techs handed me an envelope and said it was from one of the kids at Brenton Middle School.  I had to go to the nurse and get my radiation burns dressed, and didn't read it until I got in the car.  My husband was driving, so it allowed me to open the letter and read it.  I didn't get past the first sentence before I was so overwhelmed and had to stop for a minute.  The first line read "Don't be scared you're not alone, you have us and we can help and calm you down."
It was a perfect opening to the rest of the letter.  As I continued to read it aloud to my husband, I had to stop after each line because I became overwhelmed again.  This child, (boy or girl) had said just the right things to make me feel better.  They drew the breast cancer symbol and below it they wrote "Keep calm and fight on."  "You can do this!!  I believe in you!!  Keep fighting!"  I promise this child that I will frame their letter and put it where everyone can see it.  Whoever is in charge of having these children write letters to us, should receive the credit they deserve.

Thanks so very much to the child that wrote my letter.  How very kind of you to take your time and write such a sweet and inspiring letter to me.  I love it, and will treasure it always!!!

The teachers are awesome! It is just that some of the 13 yr old students that cuss too much(believe me, I hear them all the time)! There is so much talking in some of the classrooms and very little control. But all in all every student and teacher that doesn't cuss is kind and encouraging! GO WOLVERINES!!!!!!!!!!      :)
