Multnomah Street Elementary School Reviews

As a tenth grade alumni of Multnomah Elementary School, it is easy to say that Multnomah is better than most other public elementary schools. The Environmental Science Program(if still existing), the program that I was part of, is a good program for those students who are below Highly Gifted level but above "regular school" level. The Highly gifted program, which my sister who is a student at UC Santa Cruz was part of, is excellent. the teachers usually have a curriculum set somewhere above average 5th grade classes but not yet sixth grade. The only problem with the school really lies on the, if I dare say, mediocre job done with "regular school kids". The problem is very small and can be fixed easily with more attention(by attention I mean funds) is given to the "regular" classes. The Special Education department is excellent. they have very caring, hands-on teachers and one of the best parts is during recess and lunch the children are assigned to an area and a classroom to play with and they are often paired up with special education classes and show the students that the children are no different than they are. They are also taught basic sign language if paired up with deaf students.  The school is in a very safe neighborhood( I know this as I am a resident of the neighborhood) . As for race, it is predominantly latino.
All in all Multnomah is good school and your child will love it!

"They have a newly built building which is absolutely gorgeous and very well laid out. In general the staff is caring, but firm. Only bad thing is that parent involvement is not encouraged. Yet!!"
