Renaissance Arts Academy Reviews
The last review is so eerily spot on that I had to double-take and ask myself, if indeed I had already written a review. I also want to add that the performances blindside parents and distract from the lack of academic teaching. It is the big money-maker for the school and kids have to work 12-hour days on performance days. Yes, terrified teachers. Good teachers (who have an opinion) usually don't last long. Last year, at least 15 kids from 8th grade left to go to a different school. 7 teachers left in the same year. New unaccredited strangers come in to teach. There is no janitor, seniors have to clean the toilets and thus hygiene isn't up to par in the restrooms.
I did not like the set up of the school. I don't think the set up is a good learning environment with all the grades mixed together in one big warehouse looking room.
There is constant teacher turnover. Also, students constantly leave this school to transfer to another school. This school does great on the state mandated STAR test because they teach the students very similar items that will appear on the test. Parents are not allowed private conversations with teachers. An administrator always sits in with the teacher when meeting with a parent. The teacher looks as if they are terrified of saying the wrong thing in the presence of the administrator. This school is straight out of a Charles Dickens novel. If you write the school about a complaint, they never respond in writing. You must attend a meeting with the school to express any concerns. You will never get anything in writing. Parents are kept in the dark about board meetings.
