The school is okay. My kids went, they learned, they came home, we reviewed. It got the job done. Sadly, the school's environment feels kind of stagnant and static. Not oozing in energy, innovation or inspiration. Overall, I found the staff to be tired and uninspired. There were bright stars at each grade level. Teachers who loved teaching and sincerely care about children. These teachers went the extra mile, found new ways to reach the children, made it interesting. It was easy to spot the teachers who didn't have a passion for teaching. Yes, there are great teachers, but not enough to go around. The class size is huge and the school-wide programs are mediocre. I attribute many of these gripes to the State Budget - but this is what those cuts look like in the trenches. I would suggest that potential new families tour the schools in neighboring Capistrano Unified and Irvine Unified school districts by way of comparison. Those districts are also victims of the State Budget, but the energy - especially of the Irvine schools - was different - better. But for the real estate market, we'd be there.
