About the CST
What is it?
The California Standards Test (CST) is an annual exam used to measure a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards. The CST is one of the five components of the STAR Program.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Students are assessed in grades 2 through 11 in English language arts and math, in grades 5, 8 and 10 in science, and in grades 8, 10 and 11 in history/social science. In grades 9 through 11, students may also be assessed in math and science, depending on course enrollment.
How is it Scored?
Students receive one of five ratings: far below basic, below basic, basic, proficient or advanced. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.
About the CAHSEE
What is it?
The California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) is used to measure student mastery of specific skills as determined by the state. Students must pass both sections of the exam in order to graduate from high school.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Each student is assessed in grade 10 in English language arts and math. Students can retake the exam up to five times after grade 10.
How is it Scored?
The CAHSEE is an untimed pass/fail test. The goal is for all students to pass both sections of the test.

Modesto High School is the oldest school in the city. Obviously, the buildings are going to be old. We are also rumored to be the ghetto-est and most violent school. I'm here to say that MHS is the best. We have the most culturally diverse students going here. The campus itself is also pretty safe! I have never seen a fight in all of my years here! And all of the teachers I've had, go above and beyond their duty! :) love it here. PantherPride!

I loved Modesto High. It was the one and only High School I attended, but it was great. I made many friends and had wonderful teachers, that to this day I still think of and feel lucky enough to have had them. Like my freshman year English teacher Mr. Murry and my Sophmore year Eng. Mrs. Plalitz, they both were wonderful teachers! Modesto high also has the greatest art teachers ever! Mr. Tomao, Mrs. V and Mr. Mitchell. The Faculty in all seems to have a understanding and caring for the well-being of there students. Its an awesome school, seriously don't judge a book by its cover, because its truly one of the best schools in Modesto with lots to offer. I hope that one day my children will attend this school and be lucky enough to get some of my old teachers!

I miss all my teachers at Modesto High. Even if they don't remember me, I will never forget that semester I spent being their student.. I would like to say Hi!! to some of the teachers.. Mrs. Cannizarro, Mr. Durr, Mr. Petterson and Mr. Gascon. And "Hi!!" and "Thank you" to the lady who used to be my counselor. She helped me a lot!! And offcourse I will never forget the best principal of the world, Mr. Ramos. The staff at Modesto High is made with really nice and lovely people who would always be there to help me. The people I met there became friends that I will always carry on my heart as really special. The whole campus and the buildings are beautiful, good job!!! I LOVE this school, this was the first High school I attendet to, And will always be the #1!!

james: Best school. Great for everyone becuase it it so diverse. The staff is great and very kind. They all care about the well being as well as future of each and every student. They try to help them in any way possible. Any they offer many fun programs as well as great sports programs to help teach student responsability, hard work, and the true meaning of teamwork.
