Montebello High School Reviews

By , a Former Student on

I attended this school 2 years ago for my freshmen and half of my sophtmore year. I have also attended Schurr High School and I am currently enrolled in Maywood Academy High School, therefore I assure that Montebello is the best. Their teachers are great and very friendly. They help you when you need it and don't set you aside. I wish I could go back and graduate from there. That has always been my dream; to graduate as an oiler from Montebello High School!(:

When I was a student at Montebello High 10 years ago, I thought I was at the top of my class since I was in all the honors and AP courses. When I got to college, I was very surprised to find that I was not ready academically for the course work and intensity. I had to work harder just to keep up with my college peers.

Now, my niece and nephew are enrolled in Montebello High School and from what I can tell, the school has been trying to increase the level of academics and actually get the kids ready for college (or whatever path they choose). There are more academic programs and I feel the school is finally focasing on the academics instead of just the sports programs.

As a former student from Montebello High,  I know that our school was under lock-down and that students were kept inside their classrooms during the duration of the protest.  Students from the Whittier and El Rancho school districts came all the way from Pico to lure students out of neighboring schools.  I found out that it was actually a troublemaker from El Rancho who disrespected our country's flag.

They make me ashamed to be an Mexican-American and I truly wish that I could choose which public school my tax dollar supported. Any administrator or educator associated with this school should hang their heads in shame of their work because its the students who reflect the truth in the teachers. To anyone unsure of why I am taking this stance should research how their students inverted the American flag under the mexican flag in demonstration.
