I cannot say anything about safety of this school, but administration is useless. Maybe IHP program is good, but the rest of the school just a place where you cannot learn. My son has been assigned to the Math class that he had been taken a year earlier and it is now has been a week since we try to move him to the right place. People just send you from one room to another. Counselor told me last me: you are the parent, you have to resolve this issue yourself. Wonderful! All good resources in school are for IHP. Nobody cares about other kids. My daughter was in Millikan School before and in Soces. We have never been treated with such disrespect there as we have been here in Walter Reed. At the times when there are so many counselors don't have jobs, this school keeps the worst.
The only thing they care is about selling candies to earn some money for school. Why do they need extra money if they cannot even spend what they have the right way?

My daughters completed the honors program. There are some truly incredible teachers, but there were two that I wish someone had the power to let go. Your child can have absolutely no music skills and graduate knowing how to play an instrument very well.  Always felt safe on the campus. You get what you put into it.

: My son is in the IHP program and loves it.  The good parts about this public school far outweigh the bad.

My 13-year-old daughter was sexually harassed by a fellow student and when she approached a faculty member regarding the situation she was met with verbal sexual harassment from the faculty member and reprimanded.

Fights break out frequently between students and faculty is typically slow to alleviate the situations. I have gone to pick my daughter up and on at least three occasions I've scene students fighting in front of the school with no adults intervening.

This school is poor about enforcing its dress code and if a school can't enforce a minor rule like that what does that say about the school's attitude towards its other rules.

Walter Reed is not a safe school for children.
