this is a really great school please come out and try it

There was no challenge whatsoever at Montera. My son rarely had any homework and if he did, it was answering the questions at the end of the history book chapter, which can be done without actually reading the chapter. There was no critical thinking involved. Just because he wrote better than most of the students, there were no comments on his English papers to help him be a better writer so when he got to high school he was in for a rude awakening. There was no differentiation to speak of so the smarter, better prepared kids were shortchanged. He had one class that he said he learned in because the teacher refused to dumb it down and actually taught the curriculum.
He was offered drugs on a regular basis but the administration knew nothing about what was going on.  The discipline was lax because they were afraid to offend the parents. I am really shocked that it is a California Distinguished School because it is really mediocre.

I LOVE Montera soo much! The teachers were really good friends, and I could turn to them when I needed help or someone to turn to. Everyone in my class seemed like family, and we all knew each others names and personalities. Wish I could go back and be in 6th grade again!

I am a 6th grader, and I think Montera is Great. I love all of my teachers(especially for math and science). If I were pulled out of school, I would be depressed. If you need help(and are a student) you can go into your teacher's classroom for extra help.

Not a good school you have a lot of new teachers.  As the other parent states is true.  I came out of my district thinking the location had some thing to do with education, NOT.

I am so dismayed at what this school "really" is. There is a lot of glitter but only fools gold. The staff/teachers/principal pretend to be inclusive but if your child is not a genius then they will be pushed aside and disgarded while they focus on students who really don"t need help. I thought that teaching should include making the average better and the good the best? What are these educational professionals thinking? On top of their lack luster performance as educators-they have a problem with bullying and fighting! I think I will be sending my daughter to another school.   Don't be fooled parents, by where this school is-Taxpayers, what a waste of our money (am I wrong to expect my taxes to go to ALL children getting a REAL education?
