The school very much emphasizes academics. They require the students to take Latin in Middle School before they are able to take a foreign language. They offer more AP classes than any other school in our area. The kids are allowed to progress as needed--such that my son is taking Algebra II and Honors Chemistry as a freshman, since he was able to take Geometry in Middle School.
The school is also very big in the arts. They have a great vocal/choir program and a great concert and jazz band. The drama programs always puts on musicals and does a great job.
They also offer all the sports that the other local schools offer. While they struggled during their early years, the sports program is improving greatly. We have been winning swimming meets, doing well at cross country and tennis, and are starting to win football games. Soccer and baseball are also good sports at this school.
The teachers and the staff really care about the kids. They want to see the children excel and move on to college. The school offers college trips to allow the students to see what different colleges are like. They work with the kids to help them get ready for college, including applying for scholarships.
Overall, I am thrilled with this school. My oldest daughter will start there next year as a sixth grader and my youngest will start in another five years. I would not consider moving my kids from this school and the opportunity that they are being given.
