Julie Mitchell: Tulita is a wonderful school. I like the small size and the friendly staff in the office. It allows you to volunteer and interact with your children while they are still young in a variety of ways. The teachers are organized and interested in your child's well being and intellectual growth.
My son is graduating this year from 5th grade and moving onto middle school. He participated in GATE and the Safe School Ambassador program. I had wished at times there were a little more advanced studies for him.
I would say my only suggestion is that the special ed students stay in classrooms for learning with each other and then interact with the other students in activities such as PE, library, recess and lunch. I felt they distracted the classroom greatly and made it extremely difficult for the teachers. I understand their need to interact, however, I do not think it should be at the expense of other students trying to learn. I do realize this is not a decision made by the school but on a much higher level.
I will definitely miss the school and the relaxed family atmosphere. I have always felt my son was safe there.
I hope Parras is as nice as Tulita!
