Clarendon is one of the top 3 public elementary schools in San Francisco.  Both our kids love it!  The principle, Mr. Mark Barmore, makes a big difference to the quality of the school. (He is far, far better than the last principle who was horrible).  Parent participation is also very high as the fundraising numbers reflect.

One point to note.  There are two separate programs at Clarendon each comprising ~50% of students.  The first is called Second Community and is a regular Elementary program with Italian taught as an enhancement to the program.  The Second is the Japanese Bilingual Bicultural Program (JBBP) which is a Japanese language immersion program.  Both are top tier!

"This school has absolutely changed my son's life! He is a brilliant kid who has a learning disability, and the staff absolutely understands his situation and teaches the way he learns! They are so insightful, understanding and capable, I feel lucky that we are part of that community."

"They have a newly built building which is absolutely gorgeous and very well laid out. In general the staff is caring, but firm. Only bad thing is that parent involvement is not encouraged. Yet!!"
