San Francisco Waldorf School
: As a former student of the San Francisco Waldorf School and San Francisco Waldorf High School, I can tell you that I could not have had a better experience. The faculty and curriculum both nurture and develop each child at his or her own pace, and the focus on the arts, as well as individuality, connection to nature, and imagination is something you don't find very often. Some parents fear that their child won't learn to read at a Waldorf School (they begin to teach letters and beginning reading in 1st grade, much later than in public schools), but I observed just the opposite - by letting kids hold on to childhood a bit longer and waiting until they are really ready, students were picking up novels by fourth grade, and have a long of reading that never fades.
