Jan: I relocated to Santa Clara during the 2010-2011 school year. I was had concerns as my daughter has only attended private schools in Washington D.C; thus far. To my great relief she was very happy and the curriculum met our requirements for her educational plan.

joey: I graduated from there when it was Santa Clara High. My son is a 6th grader now. The school is large for a middle school so that's a plus. My son likes it and his teachers are good. Very organized instruction. Go Band.

You're kidding right? This school provides substandard programs and less than adequate guidance. The teachers are "tired" and tenured. My son received excellent instruction at Haman and the shock of the less than caring teachers was unfortunate. The bullies run rampant and very little is done in the way of real action. The school leadership is horrible, unprofessional, and rough around the edges. Buchser is a prime example of how California has screwed up our school system.

My child has gone to Buchser Middle School now my second child is going and they loved it there. This is the best school i know I recommend this school to everyone!

Buchser middle school has made my child have a great three years!,she has improved in all subjects and loves her teachers.their after school sports teams are really good & over all its a really great school

About the CST
What is it?
The California Standards Test (CST) is an annual exam used to measure a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards. The CST is one of the five components of the STAR Program.
Which Grades and Subjects?
Students are assessed in grades 2 through 11 in English language arts and math, in grades 5, 8 and 10 in science, and in grades 8, 10 and 11 in history/social science. In grades 9 through 11, students may also be assessed in math and science, depending on course enrollment.
How is it Scored?
Students receive one of five ratings: far below basic, below basic, basic, proficient or advanced. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level.

What is it?
The California Achievement Test (CAT/6) is a series of nationally norm-referenced tests that assess general academic knowledge in core subjects, as well as providing national comparisons. The CAT/6 test is one of the five components of the STAR Program.
