About This School
A school's Academic Performance Index (API) is a scale that ranges from 200 to 1000 and is calculated from the school's performance in the Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program. The state has set 800 as the API target for all schools to meet.
Prospect High School had an API growth score of 775 in 2012. California uses the Academic Performance Index (API) to measure annual school performance and year-to-year improvement. Prospect High School's 2012 base score was 771, however the school did not meet its 2012 school-wide growth target.
In 2010, Prospect High School had 23 students for every full-time equivalent teacher. The California average is 24 students per full-time equivalent teacher.

Prospect High School Reviews
Might have a chance at perhaps becoming a half-decent school--MAYBE,--now that the terrible recent principal is off the chair. Too many teachers practice favoritism, and in the past, more concern was demonstrated for the school's statistics, than the health and progress of the students. Also, too much funding has been dedicated to adding shiny new (and near-useless) additions to the physical campus, than paying attention to the fact that a former health teacher, with no relevant experience, was transferred to the art department, out of a sheer lack of staff (???). Ask any student--Prospect was a horrific high school to suffer college-app-dependent years. Save a handful of sincere teachers, even most of the staff obviously express, right in front of their students, that they don't want to be there. If that's not a disgrace to the purpose of teaching, I don't know what is. I regret this school so much I'll spit on its name if it was ever brought up. @^&% that $#*!.
Not a pleasant place to work under the current administration. Teachers are pressured to pass students and inflate grades if necessary.
prospect high is awesome; the students are great, and so are the staff.
We've had a very good experience with the Administration & Faculty @ Prospect High School and find them very supportive of parent involvement. A schools' reputation is built on API ratings but doesn't tell the whole story until you look at student demographics. Our 2007 API rating was 741 but when you look at subgroups, 80% of our students were actually performing at an API high of 815 but were impacted by 20% of our students that are disadvantaged. Our Athletic Programs have been very successful; 2-Time State Wrestling Champion, Girls Varsity Basketball & Boys Varsity Baseball @ CCS, Wrestling, Girls Swimming, Track/Field & Badminton All League Champions & Football 2nd in League. 95% of Prospect students go to college; 36% - 4 year college, 59% - 2 year college. Those stats are the true measure of a school's success.
