About This School
A school's Academic Performance Index (API) is a scale that ranges from 200 to 1000 and is calculated from the school's performance in the Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program. The state has set 800 as the API target for all schools to meet.
Bayside Elementary School had an API growth score of 808 in 2012. California uses the Academic Performance Index (API) to measure annual school performance and year-to-year improvement. Bayside Elementary School's 2012 base score was 754 and the school did meet its 2012 school-wide growth target.
In 2010, Bayside Elementary School had 13 students for every full-time equivalent teacher. The California average is 24 students per full-time equivalent teacher.

Bayside Elementary School Reviews
The scores for second graders at this school are much higher than the scores for the 5th graders at this school. Other reports suggest that in fact expenditures per pupil are around $23000 annually. This suggests to me two things: First, this school is profoundly failing their students and secondly, throwing a lot of money toward education does not guarantee good results. I wish the people of California would wake up and truly hold the education system accountable. Instead our rather complacent citizens blindly buy into the idea promoted by the education establishment that all that ails the system is lack of funding.
