I am currently a junior at River Springs Charter School. I am involved in their internship program. The internship program at River Springs gives us the opportunity to experience the career we want to pursue. River Springs allows for the internship to be personalized to your needs and goals. Students are able to pick what they want to do and where they want to intern.
I want to become a history teacher. So with the help of River Springs I was assigned an internship with a 4th-5th combo class. I have been actively involved in the internship for three months and absolutely love it. I have been able to interact with the kids and get the full experience of teaching. This internship program has allowed me to form my own opinion about teaching 32 students. For year’s people I told me I’m crazy for wanting to teach, but thanks to this experience I now know that I do want to pursue this line of work. The internship program has been a great experience for me. It has helped me narrow down the line of work I want to pursue in the future and helped equip me with the tools I need to pursue employment.
River Springs not only has a great internship program but they also have wonderful academic courses. I was a student in another School District for 10 years until I moved into the Temecula area. I have always had difficulty with math. Since I have been a student at River Springs I have raised my understanding of math tremendously. I currently have an A in Algebra II and a 3.7 GPA. River Springs Charter Schools internship program and academic courses have given me the knowledge, experience and tools I need to achieve my future goals.

I enrolled my daughter in River Springs through their Keys High School Program. It was the best thing I ever did. My daughter was disturbed by all of the things she witnessed in public school, she was done with all of the drama that she was surrounded by, and she didn't feel like she was learning anything. We tried an on line homeschool through some out of state company and it didn't work. She fell behind. The RSCS Keys program has your homeschool student meet with a teacher once a week. The teacher checks the students progress, checks homework, administers test & basically takes the hardest part of being a homeschool parent out of your hands. All I had to do was make sure she was completing her assignments. She had to play some catch up but she got the best support from her teacher and the guidance counselor. She was able to catch up and graduate on time. Now she is in college. Thank you River Springs!

This school is all about feel good grades. There is no accountability. The reality is in Math they are committing grade fraud. You get all A's on the homework so whether you pass the test or not you pass the class. And no matter how much you try to get things graded they are just lazy.

This is a unprofessional school. There is a real lack of homework relationship between many teachers and their students. The academic level is sooo low, with many teachers relying on the computer to do their teaching. Most of the non teaching staff is RUDE. Whos in charge here? YUK!!!!!!

We love the homeschool resources and the general Ed teacher we meet with monthly, but the learning centers are poorly run with many students having behavioral problems which is what we were looking to avoid with homeschooling. We've enrolled five of our six kids and every year the admission packet is lost. Thought we would be safer sending it return receipt but "some " of the documents were still misplaced. Friends have had the same experience.
Three of our children have IEPs and they virtually are written and placed into the black hole that is River Springs special Ed dept. The special education department started from scratch again this year when most of the staff quit, leaving inexperienced, untrained staff to fumble through. It is the blind leading the blind even with a "consultant" to help guide them. The school is sorely out of compliance in even the basics of holding annual IEP meetings and following through with services written in the IEP. If you have a choice, go else where.

It has possibilities.....but the staff is unfriendly. The front office staff is not warm and inviting at all, and my child's teacher is unapproachable and has an attitude. Unfortunate.

baunfamily: We love the Learning Center Class option for the homeschooling families and the amazing teachers there. We are doing the Transitions program because this is our first year and I'm not super thrilled with that program, but it's only for one year and then next year we can be traditional homeschoolers. I really do enjoy the way the homeschooling portion of the school is run and all the great resources that are available to students and their families including amazing field trips! I can't speak for the Mosaic program that allows students to go to school 3-4 days a week, but we love homeschooling through them.

With the benefits of public school and the flexibility of homeschool, hybrid, or traditional schooling, River Springs Charter meets the needs of even the most picky parents. The support my Educational Specialist provides for homeschool has removed the fear and overwhelming feeling many homeschoolers face.

Mary B.: I am so happy that I found River Springs! First, there are many different options for parents. My friend told me about River Springs because her son and daughter were doing the homeschool program. I didn't really want to do fulltime homeschool, but I found out about the Mosaic program which is 3 days of school, and 2 days of homeschool. That worked for me. Second, the whole school is focused on the individual strengths and weaknesses. My son's teacher worked with us on setting goals and modifying assignments to suit his needs. He is advanced in math, but struggles in reading. So he was able to move ahead in math, and even work on the next grade level. Third, River Springs is free. It's a public school, and they provide all of the curriculum and support. Fourth, the multi-age classroom was to the student's advantage. Like I said, my son was allowed to work ahead in math (which wasn't allowed at his old school), but for reading, he could work with the lower grade, and get extra support from his teacher. He finished the year reading at his grade level.

newbie homeschooler: I love this school! Public school didn't work for us, so we took the leap a year ago, and homeschooling has been wonderful. There are a lot of choices in this program -- so many that it can be overwhelming. There are part-time and full-time academy options, workshops, etc. but we are just homeschooling for now, going on field trips, taking classes independent of the charter, doing a lot of plays, dancing, singing, and so on. And to be honest, if my daughter was not learning, it would be my own fault, not the school's. My ES is awesome and helps me to plan and think of new ways to teach, things to see, and places to go. It's working for us!

Well to all the parents saying "my kid didn't learn anything" well did you ever happen to think MAYBE ITS YOUR KID?!? I go here and I'm learning literally 10 TIMES more than I did at public school! The teachers are very nice and are always willing to help me and my classmates.Also, we don't just "bake greek food and make cupcakes" (btw that kid is totally lying) we do real work that fun and also helps us learn. though, I will admit last year was pretty messy,but that was because we switching to a new building.This year it is MUCH better they are doing everthing they said they would do, like dance,music,after school clubs,drama, and I am also pretty sure they have a stage now.So don't listen to those parents who have kids that have kids that have kids only that care about they're cellphone's ,clothes,and make up and listen to me .

The Worst!!! Totally disorganized from top to bottom. My daughter attended the 6th grade last year and said it was as if she had taken the year off of school. My husband who usually says nothing commented that it seemed all she ever did for homework was make puppets and bake greek desserts. No academidics. Kids run the school and plenty of bad ones so beware parents. Staff smoke cigarettes where all kids can clearly view even the kindergarten children comment. I will have to work hard to repair the damage from one year at River Springs!

The reviews may be different from location to location. My daughter started at the Temecula district in the Da Vinci Academy. She has several learning disorders and is extremely bright. Basically, she thinks differently than most so needs to learn in a different manner. This school allowed her to be creative and the teachers worked with her instead of just shoving her through the system like the public schools did. I cannot imagine her being anywhere else! For once we felt like the faculty actually listened and cared about her needs. My husband and I have six children, three are college graduates and two are in now in college. So we have above average experience with children and education and I can honestly say this school has been a God send!

I hate to say anything bad about my school but its not organized at all. It has many programs ranging from home school to normal school. The problem is not the teachers or the students but the way the administrations runs. Last year they had high standards but now their standards are quite low.

I would really research and learn all of the information about this charter school before deciding to place your child in it. I love the district's unique vision and learning goals but when my daughter attended this school, the teacher did not match my expectations.
I volunteered in the class and spoke with the teacher about her teaching style and it is ANYTHING but unique and she DOES NOT cater to the individualized learning styles of each student!! In fact, this teacher did not know the definition of differiented instruction...???? This was a huge RED flag that my child was not and would not receive the best instruction in this school. It was a big dissapointment because I loved the mission statement of the school.
The school as a whole is very unorganized. There are no special activites or programs to recognize the students (student of the month, student awards, afterschool clubs) as promised. There is no outdoor play area for the elementary students, no lunch room, and not a big enough autitorium for plays that were promised.
As a parent, I was not informed of the what the students were learning in school. The website is too vague and not updated too frequently. I was concerned with the writing curriculum in my daughter's class. When the teacher explained what she was teaching and why (had to ask during a conference), I found out she was teaching way below the state standards. When I asked about this her response was, "I have a very LOW group of students!!!" Wow!!!! I was shocked at this response. This was the deciding factor for me to withdraw my daughter from this school. I would not want a teacher teaching ANY child that held this attitude.
Needless to say, my daughter is now reenrolled in Temecula Unified School district and as a family we could not be happier!!! It did take her 1 1/2 months to catch up in some academic areas.
I felt the need to post this to help out any parent that is deciding to place their child at this school. These are things that are very concerning to me and I did speak with the head director about these issues.
With the amazing public school system in Temecula and Murrieta school system, I would put your child there.

Riversprings Charter School is run by great teachers and wonderful parents. This school was/is put together by the colaboration of teachers and parents, and so you get out of this school what you put into it. RS is a perfect example of what a charter school should look like and how it should function.
The comment above from the grammatically incorrect parent is way off. Parents are actively involved in their Childs learning everyday at RS. If you want more control over how/what your child learns, RS is for you. If you don't, a regular public school is what you want.

We love the homeschool program of this great school. If you are looking for school to be under that treats you as a professional this is the place. They truly value the students potential as being unique and best taught by the number one teacher...you.

Not a school you want to put your child into. My child goes 5 days a week. Currculum is not up to distrist standards, mix of all grades in one class. Staff is not friendly to children. Try Temecula charter. Riversprings is not the one. My childs grades fallen, seems more of a contiune school,

About the CST
What is it?
The California Standards Test (CST) is an annual exam used to measure a student's mastery of the state's grade-level academic standards. The CST is one of the five components of the STAR Program.
Which Grades and Subjects?

What is it?
