South Bay Junior Academy Reviews
Our 2nd year here became a nightmare for us. Our child was repeatedly bullied. Response to our pleas for intervention fell way short of our expectations. The appalling behavior our child suffered was normal, they said. We suggested counseling for the bullies. It was denied. (The school employs no on-site psychologist). We called the superintendent who suggested we pray about our problem. Punctuality by both teachers and students appears to have no urgency. Everything feels super lax. Our 6-year-old son had his teacher's cell phone ringtone memorized. It feels like a family in that decisions are both subjective & unilateral like those of a single parent, which is fine at home, but not in a school where parents should be able to depend on objective policy to make sure their children are safe, treated fairly and have access to counselors even if it costs more. We saw an enormous, disparity in consequences among children who were disciplined. We expected much more from an SDA school and were sorely disappointed by SBJA.
God truly works in mysterious ways; our discomfort led us to a public school that has awed us with how much we were missing. Praise God, the prayers worked.
