I loved Rancho. Yes, it has a bit of a problem with overcrowding at first but once freshman year passes, the number goes down. People move, etc. I loved going to school there, went all four years.

Rancho Buena Vista is too overcrowded for kids to get a superior education. I've been going to RBVHS for 2 years and all of my classes have attained 38 kids at a minumum some reaching 40. Lunch is hecitc and lines are so long you may not get food. Drama department along with dance and cheer are superb. But for the last few years football has been lagging. Baseball, and soccer , and fieldhockey are going strong. Overall, try private school because this one is about to explode...

Not only is the above reviewer basing information on the teachers with no experience, the ideas presented are completely inaccurate. The teacher at Rancho are some of the most passionate people that truly care for their students. The teachers are what make the school a phenomenal place. Teachers do know and care for students individually, especially if the STUDENT is willing to put in the best effort.
Lockers are small, but most upperclassmen use their cars as storage, or those students who are involved can store belongings in a teacher's classroom.
Lunch may be the same time for all grades, but most upperclassmen leave campus for lunch or many students are involved in a club on campus that meets at lunch. Many bathrooms are available with a reasonable wait time.
The fact that a previous reviewer called to question the method of teaching was disheartening and 100% false. Although many schools probably out rank Rancho, insulting the teachers is one of the worst judgments to make on the school.

M: The school is grossly over crowded with a recently reported enrollment of 3500 students this year.  Students share a small 18"hx12"wx10"d locker not large enough to hold even two sets of student books, not to mention jackets or other items a student may want to store during the day.

All students go to lunch at the same time; I'd hate to wait in that bathroom line to use facilities that are dirty, worn out and crumbling.

Teachers and staff are clearly overburdened and overworked and tend to come across in a gruff, unfriendly manner.

Freshman can wind up in beginner level classes with underachieving, but perhaps more well known, Seniors.  And I'm not convinced that one teacher can adequately get to know, be concerned about and teach 165 students a year.  What's more I see the learning environment as strictly robotic if not unsafe.

All in all, I am not a fan and while my son wants to go here because this is our home public school and all of his friends are attending there, I continue to look for options that appeal to us both.
