About This School
Alternative schools are public schools that offer nontraditional education for students whose needs cannot be met in a regular, special education, or vocational school. While alternative schools are distinct from regular, special education, and vocational schools in their teaching approach or classroom environment, they can provide similar services and/or curriculum for students. Alternative schools include schools for potential dropouts, residential treatment centers for substance abuse, schools for chronic truants, and schools for students with behavioral problems. See Vista Focus Academy's test results to learn more about school performance.
A school's Academic Performance Index (API) is a scale that ranges from 200 to 1000 and is calculated from the school's performance in the Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) Program. The state has set 800 as the API target for all schools to meet.
Vista Focus Academy had an API growth score of 437 in 2009. California uses the Academic Performance Index (API) to measure annual school performance and year-to-year improvement. Vista Focus Academy's 2009 base score was 435, however the school did not meet its 2009 school-wide growth target.
In 2009, Vista Focus Academy had 9 students for every full-time equivalent teacher. The California average is 24 students per full-time equivalent teacher.
