New West Charter Middle School Reviews

I am a student and speak positively about New West

By a Current Student on

I am a student at New West and believe it's a great school. We may not have the "high school experience" that many want but we do have great teachers and an awesome principal. A previous review noted that class sizes are about 35, however my largest class size is no bigger than 25. Electives are.not like study halls at all as mentioned by a previous commenter. We have a variety of classes like music, art and various dance classes. All the students who participate in these classes, myself included, work hard but also enjoy the association with fellow students who share similar interests. Our dance program is amazing and I have personally seen the talent some of my fellow dancers have. I am currently in high school and I plan to be in the first graduating class of New West Charter High School.

Hard work out into high school by parents teachers and staff

By a Parent on

New West Charter has always been a a great school because of the small atmosphere creating a "family" type feel. With the expansion of the new homeschool things are bound to get hectic and disorganized but what else would you expect from such a large and new expansion. New West hears the concerns of its parents and even students to create the best environment for learning. New West offers an "x-block" at the end of the week, which is supposed to be a fun class for the students where they can express their thoughts and creativity in their own ways, not just in their core classes. I believe that New West is a wonderful school and I appreciate the hard work all the parents students and staff put in to make the New West Charter HS possible.

Response to negative remarks

By a Parent on

WOW!   These negative remarks have created concerns for me because two of my children are attending there.

Terrible school aqnd totally over rated, and a huge why bother?

By a Parent on

The school does not have differentiated curriculum nor a particularly difficult one.  The projects are fairly routine and not as complex or demanding that you would expect with such a tiny school.  The classes have 35 kids in them, the electives are more like study hall or after school classes such as "Nail Art".  Those with IEP's, Gifted learners and need accommodations such as technology are left out in the cold.  High School is an extension of middle school with no real advancements beyond the basic classes which are just ok.  Expensive donations constantly required with not much reward for parents or teachers.  Very disappointing experience and went back to neighborhood public school which in the area - all local schools are great with same test scores .
