Ivy Academia School Reviews
We have been at Ivy Academia Charter school for over 6 years. The education my son receives is top-notch. We were at a very expensive, very affluent private school before coming to Ivy, and Ivy has given my child a better all around educational experience, and tuition free!. But because it is a Charter it has had its ups and downs. At this time the school is running off of 4 different campuses, which for parents that have children on multiple campuses is difficult to say the least. Ivy has been addressing this campus issue for years...and fighting LAUSD all the way for one of their run-down empty campuses that our tax dollars pay for! Parents need to be involved. Not only is it required, it helps the teachers & staff so much. Ivy is considered an entrepreneurial school. The kids are taught and given businesses to run. They learn a strong sense of community, and how to work together. There is a no bullying policy, and there are weekly assemblies to address any current school issues. Again you get out of something what you put into it. I have invested a lot of time and energy in Ivy, and in turn have had a positive experience so far. My son is in all honors classes, and continues to grow, mature, and learn. I would highly recommend Ivy Academia to those considering the alternative to a high priced private school.
This is one of the best schools around. The waiting list is high and parents cannot wait for their kids to attend. The staff cares a lot about the kids and go above and beyond to make sure they lear a lot and pass. This year is the first year for the senior (12th grade) class and their graduation is highly anticipated. The Special Education Department is stellar, and enjoy many resources other schools cannot afford. The administration is fair and balanced and they are very supportive to the teachers, and the parents. Communication is key and with the website and online grading system, parents are always up to date if they wish to be. The school is not being investigated by the DA as previously stated in a past review. That is misinformation and should not be taken seriously. Be sure to have all your facts straight before making unfounded comments designed to enflame other parents. Long live IVY ACADEMIA! They are doing an amazing service to the community of Woodland Hills.
I also am shocked of your review of Ivy,my son is in his 4th year and I am extremely pleased.i could call his teacher or email and i get a reply within 10-15 minutes. My son has went from a D student to an A student,i hope i stay in the area so my son can graduate,he has been there from the beginning and i love all the staff, especially Mr.goldburgh,he is a 4th grade teacher and he is special if any of your kids get in his class it would be great.I love ivy
Ivy Academia is one of the best schools. My son was getting lost in the Encino Elementary. I was told that he was everything from dyslexic to delayed. We did SST meetings, I went to Doctors, had eyes checked, had psychologist review, there was nothing wrong. He was simply a little slower in reading then the other kids. After he was thrown into an English as a Second Language class(he speaks English and no other language I must add) I pulled him out and put him in Ivy. Not only is he thriving and getting all A's, but he scores high on all his testings and reads in class aloud, gives little speeches and more. Ivy is amazing and the teachers have room to teach with creativity and love. AMAZING SCHOOL!!!
... My son has attended Ivy for the past 3 years. This is one of the highest performing schools in LAUSD and the state for that matter. My son has been given an amazing education from some of the most dedicated teachers and faculty I have ever encountered. I have the founders personal cell phone and email address and anytime I have ever had an issue concerning my child she has personally contacted me and resolved any issue. I have never been treated with anything but respect from the faculty and administrators. I'm not sure what type of encounters or what circumstances you had the with any of them that were unprofessional but, it could have been your approach. I have nephews that attend schools in Woodland Hills that are in higher grades that aren't getting taught what he is being taught in 2nd grade. I am an extremely pleased parent at Ivy my son started kinder there and with God's help I hope to stay in the area so that he can graduate from the school.
This is the worst school my child has ever been to. The school is too small and they are lacking adequate facilities. The classrooms are too small, there is no playground or grass. The teachers are great but they keep quitting. Makes me wonder how they're being treated. Administration is very unprofessional and lacks communication skills. My daughter went through three teachers within the first two weeks of school, without our knowledge... We will not be returning next year! Besides who would send their child to a school that is under investigation by the District Attorney! This school is a big joke!
