I think the school is one of the poorest in the country in terms of educating students. They watch movies in the classroom far too often and I am not talking about educational ones, but cartoons and ridiculous soap-opera type films. The teachers are often not even licensed in Colorado, but they are still allowed to be in charge of the classroom. They had one person who used to work in the cafeteria in charge of a class and I don't think she even had a college degree. Students have been sexually inappropriate in the class, touching each other and kissing and teachers don't even see it. They also had a girl cut her wrists in the auditorium bathroom while a teacher was supposed to be supervising. Girls don't get homework and usually don't even use textbooks for class. I am sure that if you compared the girls who graduate from Excelsior with the average 5th graders, the elementary school kids would be better in every subject area.

"This school has absolutely changed my son's life! He is a brilliant kid who has a learning disability, and the staff absolutely understands his situation and teaches the way he learns! They are so insightful, understanding and capable, I feel lucky that we are part of that community."

"They have a newly built building which is absolutely gorgeous and very well laid out. In general the staff is caring, but firm. Only bad thing is that parent involvement is not encouraged. Yet!!"
