Dear Parents, I felt obligated to warn any one that thought that Rangeview was a good school. Years ago, pre-current principal, it was a fairly well established school. As of late, they have really dropped in all areas, from education to safety to accountability. Teachers are not teaching, many times providing answers to tests before giving the actual tests (and won't actually change the test question to test the students knowledge of a subject) and will allow continual make-ups until the student passes. Students were also held in their language arts classes and forced to choose classes for the next year and not allowed time to consider their choices - yeah it might be legal - but is not ethical and parents should be cautious before putting a kid in that kind of situation. If schools are allowed to make kids think this behavior is ok, then other people and organizations might do this to them later in life. Teachers don't respond to simple questions, often treating the kid like the adult and not the parent - that is good if the situation is not serious - you know a parent should not try to excuse a student inability or unwillingness to turn in homework, but when a parent is addressing grades, behavior and other more serious issues - they deserve a response. These teachers never seem to give one and that is not ok. Be AWARE - there are huge issues on Telluride - up to illegal activity and the school is aware and will only got as far as their curb to stop it - the school needs full time police officers...and I won't get into the fights on school property. As long as your student does not face an issue, Rangeview is a cool place, but as soon as your kid needs assistance, reaches out to do something good, or attempts to make an impact, this administration will close up on them and getting anything out will be like getting juice from a dried lemon. I know this sounds like complaining, but I don't know one parent who has spoken to the administration and gotten support - and that is bad. And every parent that I know that has sought the assistance of the superintendent regarding the situation at the school, has never received a reply, not even a generic email stating that their email was received. That is not good - seek better educational choices.
