Bryant Webster K-8 School Reviews
I love the school. And have my two girls there for ECE through 4th and the second one and k - 1st . The model is a strong one to develop the biliterate model. Much of the original ESL old image is erased as the next grades go to the team teaching and more energetic teachers. We are not spanish speakers at home yet, both of my girls read above grade level in spanish. Teh street comprehension of my older is wonderful, the second is orking at it. I appreciate the strong traditional emphais on the basics without compromising enrichment classes. as a city wide magnet, BW is a secret pearl, in NW Denver.
Bryant-Webster is a very good school with being bilingual a plus!!. However, teaching subjects in spanish such as math, science, etc. It can be very confusing to children who are not fluent spanish speakers and can be very hard and confusing for kids. I understand teaching bilingual studies is great but why teach it in subjects that are already hard for some kids to understand much less teach it in a language that is not their primary.
school is optimistic, new teachers for bilingual model are energetic. kids are very polite in classrooms. teachers do a good job of classroom management in their primary language. school ( admin, teachers & families) need work on getting out of its old image of ESL and embracing the current bilingual model. Totally english speaking families may need an extra effort to get the spanish portion.
