Morris Street School

Buitron: My two older kids attend this elementary school and I attended this school as well.  There is a calendar of events this is monthly and the different grades get to go on field trips throughout the month.  This month they are visiting farms around the area and there will be a Harvest Fair this weekend.  This helps kids learn where are food comes from etc. There is a dress code which sets good standards on teaching children how to present themselves.  What's great about Morris St. School is because  Danbury has a large hispanic population the kids are learning another language while in school, namely Spanish and they are encouraged to learn.  Academically, this school uses The Learning Tree which was created by Danbury educators.  In essence the trunk of the tree provides life long learning skills, the roots are attitudes and attributes and the leaves are the content standards that students in our district are expected to achieve.  Please read more about this wonderful Learning Tree on the Morris St. School website.  I don't know what else to say except that my kids are happy here, the teachers are patient and take time with the kids and the kids LEARN!
