Barnard Environmental Magnet School
We were soooo fortunate to get our child into Barnard! We were on the waiting list, and very anxious as to what we do when September came. We had the WORST experience with our childs kindergarten experience. He learned NOTHING, and the effort that was put into his education was awful! As he entered first grade at Barnard, we learned that he is ADHD. He now has a plan, and he has caught up in every subject. His teacher says he is BRILLIANT! He was labeled as a behavior problem, because he could not pay attention, and was not offered any help. He loves school, he can read, write and do math. He has many friends, and has achieved several awards thus far. One for student of the month for Art and Kindness, and most recently participated in an "Ice Cream Party" for reaching a certain level on The Lexia reading program. He is self motivated and eager to learn. ALL the staff at Barnard are invested as a "Team" promoting self respect, respect for others, and of course, being a "green" school, a respect for the enviroment. Mr. Crocco ( principal) is actually VISIBLE, and available to address questions, concerns, or to just say hello.
The East Haven School system that FAILED our child and LEFT HIM BEHIND is certainly using the districts money in a wonderful way. They are paying to New Haven Public Schools the amount of money that would have been WASTED having had our son remain in the incompetent, lazy, substandard enviroment they call "school". Let this be a lesson to all parents.... FIGHT and ADVOCATE for your children! They may be small, but they do havea voice!
Thank You Barnard!!!!!!!!!

mya baldwin: i think that barnard is a great school for kids with basic and proficent grade levles. but for students that have goal and advanced grade levels should not go to this school. i say this because the kids with above avrage levels will not really learn anything and will just sit there abnd stair at the bored. plus the hallways are very load and kids will never be able to think straight and there is alot of bullying going on at this school. many students left this school befor january because people keep on bullying them and fighting them . this is all i got to say about this school for now.
