As a parent who recently pulled both of my children out of this school, I would advise any parent considering this school to choose a better option, and there are many. The school and its administrators is rigid to the point where it is detrimental to the development of its students, and it has badly damaged the school's reputation and quality over the past 5-7 years. I have noticed that many students who hqave creative tendencies are stifled in favor of an old-world rote memorization style of education. I have continually noticed that students who require even a modicum of extra help (and, by extension, their families) are treated poorly by the teachers and the administration. I turned a blind eye to this for years because my children seemed relatively happy at the school, but I can no longer do so as my children have noticed the school's tendencies as well. The school is in the middle of a steep decline, and I do not see the trend turning around anytime soon with the school's current leadership. It is currently only held afloat by poaching the best students from local public schools and placing them into Independence's Upper School. Unfortunately, that will not last, and I had to withdraw my children and place them ina better environment.
