East Side Charter School
This school seems to survive by making hollow promises and courting parents until after the September 30th cut off for funding.  After this date it is almost impossible to remove your child from a charter.  Many of the students at this school lag two or three grades behind their peers in other schools.  Yet they receive an education that is both  inconsistent and unstable.  This school year has been nothing but a series of trail runs.  My daughter is extremely unhappy and no longer enjoys going to school.  She had made so much progress last year and formed a bond with the staff.  However...this year has brought a turn over of more than 70% of the teaching staff.  The board appears to think the solution rides in the new leader, Dr. Lamont Browne, but fail to exercise "good watch" over him.  I will not send my child to this school next year and hope other parents do their homework before enrolling.

: I went to this school for all of middle school. When i say that this school "helped me" it did. East Side Charter school is not the best school, but it is one school i can say that holds your hand threw hard times. I go to Wilmington Friends School now for high school because of this school. Tell you the truth, most students that go there are African Americans with low income and live with single parents. But i have never in my life seen teachers that help the students as they have done over the years. Teachers that will become a parent for the children. But I think you should ask student that don't get in trouble everyday how they feel about the school.

Wow!! This school is the worst. The class rooms are crowded and the teachers this year think they are teaching at a military academy. The worst thing is that they have this misconception that all African American kids are low income and live with single parent. I wanted to take my child out but was unable since he/she started the school year already. I can't wait til the end of the year.
