About This School

Maurice J. Moyer Academy is located in Wilmington, DE and is in Charter-75 School District. It is a charter school that serves 202 students in grades 6-12.

Those organizations are responsible for monitoring and assessing the quality and effectiveness of education, but permit the schools to operate outside of the traditional public school education system. See Maurice J. If you are considering about making an application to Moyer Academy and your child is currently receiving special education services, don't do it.  They do not keep accurate records.  They are not in compliance in their record keeping.  They do not hold IEP meetings.  It's a nightmare.  Please be warned.

We the community  which consists of Political Leaders,Churches, Parents, Leaders within various organizations of the City of Wlmington. Moyer Academy has had a black cloud casted over it, since DOE voted to close the school last year. When it was reopen under K12 (management company) the cloud thicken. Everybody states their concern was for the childern, but was  it really?  I don't think so, it's truly about who wants what they want and when they want it. It's all about WHO holds the power politically in the State of Delaware.  So, what offer has been made NOW to close Moyer ? After all it is an election year. So, Who is the highest bidder? and when will they come and claim their prize?  Once again, we have been sold out to the devil>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Moyer Academy is not a place where students can succeed. There are many problems with this school. The school was not prepared for students on the first day of school. They made us sit in the cafeteria and watch movies on the first day of school. Also, everything is online. So unless you want to sit in front of a computer all day do not go here. If you value your education transfer out of Moyer like I did.

The NEW Maurice J. Moyer Academy is alive and well. We are looking forward in servicing ALL students who will embark on this great learning experience as well as the return of football and basketball. Along with NEW sports, such as lacrosse, track, baseball etc.  Come and visit The New Moyer and talk with the principal, Mrs. Thorton. We are currently having open enrollement and encourage the public to visit with us.

I have been going to Moyer foe three years and it is pretty bad. But at the same time you can not blame the teachers only the students and their parents for not putting them im check. I am a straight A student socthe teachers are doing their job right.... But i am glad to get out of this school this year. They have no activities for the kids to stay out of the streets and they need to kick some of those uncontrolable kids out so they can have a better school enviroment.

For many children pushed out of the school system Moyer is the only option.  Moyer has extended their arms to all children who are labeled or ignored by other schools.  I think that Moyer has done a wonderful job with my son, who ended up there because no other school would take the time to get to know him.  My son has attended Moyer for 2 yrs and has maintained a honor roll status since he arrived.  This being his last year of HS he faced a very difficult decision in leaving Moyer in fear that he would not be able to finish out his last year at Moyer.

It is a sad time for many parents who have been forced to secure their child's education elsewhere.  I would recommend Moyer to children who have been shunned out of the "good"  schools because the children were labeled problems.  My prayers are with the staff, students and others involved in the fight to keep Moyer open.

I think Moyer Academy is the best school i ever when too. The Teachers are nice and they teach the kids that want to be teach. They will never put their hands on our parents kids. The kids is not bad,we stand in a line. The school is the best choice to send your kids to they will learn everything they need too. This is why i like moyer it means everything to me.
