Lighthouse Center For Creative Learning Reviews
We love this school! Small classes and loving teachers who watch carefully over each student.
Seeing is believing!
Sometimes disciplinary actions are needed when a staff member steps out of line, and sometimes this causes a person to have very hard feelings and leave reviews that are polluted by anger. LCCL does have huge potential, and the staff is some of the finest I have ever known. The truth is that all but one of the teachers from last year are returning this year to work in some capacity, except the one with angry feelings. In fact, many of the LCCL team have been here for years, and two Behavioral Therapists that have worked with students in our school have now joined our team. Why? Because, they love it here! Please do not be swayed by the angry feelings of one person, come and see our program for yourself.
Lighthouse has an immense amount of potential. It will never grow into that potential due to the leadership though. I used to teach at lighthouse and some of the teachers are fantastic. The leadership seems to struggle with emotional maturity. [content removed by Schoolfinder review team]. There is always lots of staff turnover. [content removed by Schoolfinder review team]. Just be aware of what you are getting into if you want to teach or have your children attend this school.
Solid school in the Brandon area.
Lighthouse is a good school. They have many fine teachers and only a few average ones. They pay their staff just a little over minimum wage with no benefits so one musn't expect the creme of the crop. The seem to do well with what they have.
Lighthouse is one of the finest schools in the area. I would highly recommend it to every parent.
Lighthouse embraces every child with love and respect. They offer an innovative, three level program with supports for every child. I would encourage every parent to visit and see the program for yourself.
I am so very thankful for Lighthouse Center for Creative Learning! Our daughter received a solid education in all areas while attending this school. She began kindergarten there, and attended for five years. Not only was she taught to read, write, and understand math, she was taught how to love others. She has attended two schools since Lighthouse, and has been a straight A student in every class. Her teachers have commented many times on her ability to be a leader, and have also commented about the respect she shows teachers and students in and out of the classroom. She has received awards of excellence in her classes and scored the highest grade given on her FCAT in Reading this year as well. Thank you Lighthouse for not only a great beginning in her education, but also for teaching her the value of loving others and understanding that we can make a difference in this world by caring for those around us!
Lighthouse Center is a great school. If you want a team of dedicated teachers and administration, you'll find it here. Teachers are skilled to meet the needs of every student. They provide a safe and comfortable environment. Lighthouse also offers many options for special needs students. I am very pleased with their multisensory approach in teaching academics. They also offer new therapy scientifically proven to help students' cognitive development, speech and occupational therapy all in one place.
The comment that LCCL is very challenged because we are advocates for the inclusion of students with special needs into mainstream classrooms deeply saddens me. Lighthouse Center for Creative Learning offers self-contained, hands-on classrooms for our students with more severe learning disabilities, and when possible, we do mainstream some students who have mild disabilities. Our staff was trained this past year, and so were our students! Every year we offer peer sensitivity training, and we celebrate our differences. Our lives have been enriched by embracing these students, and I can assure you that the SAT test results of our higher achieving students show that no one suffered. I am proud of what we accomplished this year, and we did it together.
LCCL is a a very challenged school. It does not know if it is a "regular" school or a school for special needs. It's is a mix of both students in the same classrooms. This causes issues for the teachers as well as students. The teachers are tasked with educating both types of students every day in which both students suffer. The teachers at the school are very good...even exceptional but tasked to do too much.
